The National Trust for Historic Preservation has declared May to be Preservation Month. During that month, Tuscarawas County Heritage Home Association has chosen to honor those individual home and business owners in Tuscarawas County for their efforts in restoring or maintaining the historic appearance to the exterior of their property built before 1930. Since 2013, forty-eight properties have been recognized.
Heroes of History Award
In 2018, the Tuscarawas County Heritage Home Association began recognizing those individuals who have done much for preserving the history of our county, and especially in the preservation of architecturally significant structures. These individuals have set the example for their community by devoting their knowledge, financial support, and/or hands-on efforts to preserve various aspects of our county's diverse history.

Jeff Miller Memorial Tradesman Award
This award is made in memory of Jeff Miller, skilled craftsman, preservationist, restorer, naturalist, lover of all history, President of Miller Studio Incorporated, and a friend to all.
One Buckeye Career Center student (graduating senior) will receive the award. The student must show an appreciation for and understanding of the importance of historic preservation as well as a passion for their field of study. The student must successfully complete one of the following programs:
