"...to recognize, document, preserve, and protect our historic structures and neighborhoods"

Who we are...

Picture
The Heritage Home Association is dedicated to the documentation and preservation of the architecturally and historically significant homes, buildings, and neighborhoods of Tuscarawas County.  The Association is tax-exempt under IRC Section 501(c)(3).

Our mission is to cultivate awareness and appreciation of this part of our local heritage, to encourage interest in preserving historic structures within the community, and to educate those who are interested in preservation or are actively involved in the restoration of historically significant structures.

Our Members...

The members of the Heritage Home Association are individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations who understand the importance of preservation and restoration efforts.  Their common thread is an appreciation of history, historic places, historic homes and buildings, historic structures, and unique architecture.  Ownership of a historic property is not necessary for membership.

Heritage Home Association meetings are held the first Thursday of the month where members are encouraged to help with committees and events.  They also have many opportunities to participate in tours, picnics, and banquets.

Memberships are available for individuals, couples, businesses, or non-profit organizations.  A lifetime membership option is also available.

Meetings and Activities...

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month and hosted by our members, often times in their historic home.  A program is usually presented, followed by a social time with refreshments.

Our Board of Directors meets on the last Thursday of the month.  Members are welcome to attend all board meetings.

The Association frequently sponsors tours of historic homes, buildings, and historic sites in the local area and throughout Ohio.

The Christmas Tour of Homes is the major fundraiser for the Heritage Home Association and is held on the second Sunday in December each year.  For many years this tour was sponsored and operated by the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum before they so graciously handed it over to Heritage Homes in 2009.  For more information on the Christmas Tour of Homes click here.

Other Association fund-raisers and community activities have taken the form of home and garden tours, walking tours, scavenger hunts, and formerly, our Olde House Parts garage sale.

The Month of May is National Preservation Month during which our members present the Heroes of Preservation Awards for Tuscarawas County.
